When ATMs go wrong

A Diebold ATM in Baker hall at CMU crashed, and dropped to a Windows XP
desktop. Several intrepid students started Windows Media player, and it was playing
a variety of music with a nice visualizer.

So much for security...

My favorite swear word is.. "England"

Channel Four International (C4i) asked a number of US and UK film and TV stars what the favorite swear words were -- and to say them out loud (and they do). What follows is a 2 minute melange of famous faces saying, amongst other things, bloody, wanker, bollocks and bugger ... and "England". link

Don't do business with Mac of All Trades

email me for details if you like, but this company is dishonest and unethical. They shipped me broken hardware, (I shipped it back, and carefully followed their RMA proceedure) and they have the gall to charge me $55 for the pleasure.

I called, and asked to speak to someone who had made the decision. They "hid" behind "Tony".

Don't buy anything from these theives.

Election Fraud 101

We only seem to prosecute that when perpetrator is a well known face on TV. Martha goes to jail, while Katherine Harris gets elected to congress".

Vivato does WiMax?

Over at the USPTO link to query, it appears that Vivato has applied for several new trademarked phrases, all of the general form "X Pavement". Of particular interest: "WIMAX PAVEMENT".

Pavement?

They all contain this general description:

IC 009. US 021 023 026 036 038. G & S: Wireless networking product and solutions-- a patented, FCC-approved, long-range WiFi antenna providing pulg-and-play functionality for urban apoplications integrating all 1) Ethernet routing, switching, and bridging 2) thirteen 802;1x radios, 3) power, 4) hi-gain antenna, 5) subscriber management into a single chassis to slash equipment and operating costsup to 3000%. FIRST USE: 20040213. FIRST USE IN COMMERCE: 20040213

Vivato was originally founded as an 802.16 company. Perhaps the founder's dream is still alive.

Bangalore: Silicon Valley or Coolie Valley?

Politicians, bureaucrats and residents of Bangalore take pride in the fact that they live in what they call the Silicon Valley of the East. The city is considered high tech because of the number of software and software services companies located here.

But is Bangalore really Silicon Valley?
